Cortes Island Seafest

Thinking of cultivating inner peace?
Consider spending time with an oyster.
They know how to keep their mouth shut and are very patient.
They also taste really good when served as Oysters Motoyaki,
Oysters Rockefeller and Oysters in Mango sauce on the grill.
They bring smiles of contentment when poached in Dengaku Miso,
fried in chipotle lime sauce and made into oyster wraps.
Add clams steamed in a Thai sweet chili and white wine reduction,
sautéed prawns, Asian bok choy salad with roasted peanuts in
Tamarind Chili dressing, artisan bread, and
experience the realization of true bliss.

Annual Cortes Island SEAFEST is coming right up!

For a scrumptious, family-friendly day of fun, head on over to Cortes Island for SEAFEST 2017, on Saturday, May 20th. The festival is becoming well-known for the live music played throughout the day, the dessert and craft tables, the spectacular setting at the Gorge Harbour Marina Resort, and of course, for the fabulous food.

With the help of some 70 volunteers drawn from local seafood workers, the Cortes Fire Department, and the community at large—approximately 650 gourmet lunches will be served to islanders and guests. This year members of the Klahoose First Nation will offer salmon and fry bread.

For only $22 a plate, the menu includes barbecued Oysters Motoyaki, Oysters Rockefeller and Oysters in a Mango sauce on the grill. The main cook tent will be serving poached oysters Dengaku Miso, oysters fried in chipotle lime sauce and oyster wraps. Clams steamed in a Thai sweet chili and white wine reduction, sautéed prawns, an Asian bok choy salad with Tamarind Chili dressing, and artisan bread from the Cortes Natural Food Co-op complete your gourmet lunch. Serving begins at 11:30. Pre-sale tickets are available at all Cortes grocery stores for $20, or just buy your tickets at the festival!
