The excitement starts early! Join us for a delicious breakfast and a chance to win door prizes. The raffle draw, a highlight of the event, takes place at 12 noon.

This is an annual event organized on an Easter Sunday as a fundraiser for Cortes Island Firefighters.

Seafest

SEAFEST is an annual event, usually held on Cortes Island on the Saturday of May long weekend.

SEAFEST features BBQ and raw oysters, steamed mussels and clams, and more! Live music and local crafts will entertain you throughout the whole day.

Music starts at 11 a.m., serving begins at 11:30 a.m. and continues until approximately 4:00 p.m.

Tickets are available at the event and in local stores.

Seafest is a celebration of island life.  The enduring joy that results from good friends who spend time together in the community, making and enjoying good food, is a rare treasure.

Creative Spaces: Gardens and Studio Tour

Spend a day touring gardens, arts and crafts studios and workshops. The Cortes Island Museum sponsors this unique tour of creative spaces on Cortes each year on a Saturday in the month of June or July. It always has a great variety of special places to stimulate your senses. Tickets include a map and descriptions of places on the tour, and they are available for purchase in late May at Cortes stores, Friday Markets at Manson’s Hall and the Museum. Refreshments are available in the Museum’s Heritage Garden.

The tour is an important fundraiser for the Cortes Island Museum and supports Public Education, Outreach, and Archive Programs.

Tickets are available at the Museum, 957 Beasley Road, local stores, and a location close to the Cortes ferry on the day of the event – the location is always posted on the Museum website.

Old Schoolhouse Gallery

The Summer Season opens from June to September. New shows are presented every two weeks. The gallery's hours are Friday from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. Check out the Art Gallery's website for more details.

Cortes Day is usually held on the third Saturday of July at Smelt Bay Provincial Park.

Cortes Day is a complete celebration of Cortes Island starting with breakfast and followed by a parade! The day is filled with activities for children and adults, such as the cakewalk, chicken run and the famous Nail, Sail and Bail race. For more information, visit the SCCA website.

Sandcastle Day is usually held annually at Smelt Bay Provincial Park.  The date is chosen based on the lowest tide in August.

Hot dogs and drinks are available for purchase. Cash prizes for best castles. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. at Smelt Bay.

The festival includes various forms of performance art, installation art, local food and goods vendors, and a handful of non-profits. It is a family-friendly event, with local bands headlining.
