60 riders participated last year and $1600 was donated. We added a Fun Run/Walk this year, so more diverse folks could participate. Let’s break the 100 participant mark this year!
If someone in your family is participating in the event and you would like to share the meal, it’s $10/adult and $5/child for additional BBQ dinners.
The 5k course is a lovely stroll up Olmstead Rd, down Jocelyn and into the beautiful Whaletown Commons, returning along Whaletown Road. Volunteers have been grooming the trails to make it a “walk in the park”! Celebrate our new Whaletown Park!!
The 18K is a back country ride through the Carrington Trails and finishing through the Commons.
Thank you to John Drew, David Hughes, Ruth Ozeki and Oliver Kellhammer for your generous community spirit, allowing participants to traverse through your private lands.
Thank you to our sponsors; Gorge Harbour Marina Resort, Gathering Place Trading Co, Hollyhock, Naked Cycles, Swicked Cycles, RH Printing and Island Timberlands. (I.T. has generously waived the fee for using their lands, three years in a row – thank you!)
The Gorge Harbour Marina with Bill and Tammy go above and beyond to make this event a success! They offer a free night of camping or moorage to registrants in the event, so let your Quadra and Campbell River friends know!
Thank you to our 25 plus volunteers who help make this happen and to the Cortes Island Fire Department who will be on the road at the Commons directing traffic!
More than anything, our hope is to promote fitness for a life time and use of our amazing forests and trails. Strive for your personal best and come on out to play on Sept 13th!
