July 18, 2026!
Smelt Bay Provincial Park

Parade begins at 11 a.m.

Cortes Day is a beloved annual community celebration with over 70 years of tradition, bringing together locals and visitors together for a full day of fun, food, music, and island spirit! Best of all, it’s free to attend!

Join us for a day of fresh-grilled burgers, pie and ice cream, live music all afternoon, local artisans and craftspeople, community info booths, family games and activities, the famous Nail, Sail & Bail beach race, the legendary Chicken Poop Contest, and so much more!

This year, we are thrilled to welcome The New Old Time Chautauqua vaudeville troupe, bringing their marching band, performers, artists, and old-time entertainment to add even more magic to the day.

Cortes Day is a collaborative event organized by the Southern Cortes Community Association (SCCA) and supported by many local organizations and volunteers. It’s a chance to celebrate this beautiful island and the community that makes it so special.
