Hello Bird Lovers,
This year’s CBC (Christmas Bird Count) on Cortes Island is planned for Sunday, December 17, 2023.
Please mark your calendars and watch for more announcements. This date may change if the weather is not cooperating.
We are planning to start at 9 a.m. with one group meeting at the Cortes Island Museum (957 Beasley Road, one block up the hill from Manson’s Hall), one in Squirrel Cove, and another in Whaletown. We will have a lunch break at the Museum (bring your lunch, coffee & tea provided). Then, around 3 p.m., we will tally our observations with George Sirk who will make sure “all is good and rare sightings documented.” Again, bird feeder watchers will be able to send their observations by email.
Bring your binoculars, cameras, bird books, and warm clothing. We will be divided into groups to cover most birding places on Cortes Island. Each group will have an experienced bird leader.
Please check the Museum’s birding website page for more information: https://cortesmuseum.com/wild-cortes/bird-counts/
