Hank’s Beach Forest Conservation Park, the 153 forested acres on the south-east shore of Cortes, was a gift from the Tides Foundation to the Strathcona Regional District, made possible by a private donor who wished to see the property preserved so contributed funds to assist in protecting the area from further development or logging.

In line with the covenant held by The Land Conservancy of British Columbia, and the Ecological Gift status, the Regional District manages the land as a public park with the goal of maintaining ecological integrity and a mature forest ecosystem.
