To reach Cortes Island by car and ferry, you need to catch the ferry from Campbell River, located on North Central Vancouver Island.
Once you arrive at the Campbell River ferry terminal, when buying ticket state your destination as Cortes Island. You will be directed to lane 7. When on Quadra Island, follow directions to Heriot Bay, where you can catch a ferry to Cortes Island.
You do not need a ticket coming back from Cortes (or Quadra) to Campbell River.
It takes 10 mins to get by ferry from Campbell River to Quadra, then 20 minutes drive across Quadra, then 40 mins by ferry to Cortes Island.
