Friends of Cortes Island Summer Activities Program

posted in: Blog, Front Page | 0

Friends of Cortes Island has a wonderful array of nature based activities on offer this summer. The program includes everything from our very popular low tide explorations “gumbooting” the Lagoon, to a wonderful hike into Von Donop, tours of Linnaea farm and a nature walk in Whaletown Commons.

Love the lakes? Then we have a special “Love the Lakes” day where you can take part in a wonderful early morning guided paddle round Hague and Gunflint lakes, and spend an afternoon getting creative and making willow lake critters at Linnaea .
If you are looking to learn new skills then why not take part in an eco-poetry workshop with local poet Priya Huffman, or improve your nature photography with local photographer Richard Trueman, in the wonderful setting of the Hollyhock garden and beach.

Otherwise you can sit back and enjoy one of two Island Improv theatre sessions celebrating west coast nature at the Gorge Harbour Marina. Last but not least we have a special film screening of the prize winning Greenpeace Film, How to Save the World, and lake fundraiser! All in all there is something for everyone! So, why not get out there have fun, learn and discover!

Visit Friends of Cortes Island Website to find out more and like their Facebook page to stay up to date with all their events and activities.
